Terms of Service
The short version: Buddy helps you plan your day. Your tasks are yours, and your plan lives on your phone. Use Buddy kindly and fairly, check anything important the AI tells you, and manage Buddy Pro through Apple.
1. What Buddy is
Buddy is a day planner app for iPhone. You tell it what is on your mind, by typing or by talking, and it helps you turn that into a plan you can finish. This website tells you about Buddy and has the page where you connect an AI assistant to it.
2. Who can use Buddy
- Anyone can use Buddy.
- If you are under 18, or under the age where you live at which you can agree to terms like these on your own, a parent or guardian needs to agree to these terms for you.
- Connecting an AI assistant, such as ChatGPT, needs a Buddy account whose age is set to 18 or over. We check this on our server.
- A few other features, like phone sign-in, are only for older users.
- If you tell Buddy your age, please make it your real one. It decides how Buddy talks to you and which features you can use.
3. Your account and your content
You don't need an account to plan your day. Signing in, with Apple, Google or a phone number, is optional. You need it for a few features, like connecting an AI assistant. Keep your phone and your sign-in to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
Your tasks, notes and chats are yours. We don't own them. Your plan lives on your phone, unless you turn on cloud backup. Some things do leave your phone, like the words you send in a chat so the AI can reply. When they do, you allow us to use them only to run the feature you asked for. The Privacy Policy explains what leaves your phone, where it goes, and how to delete it.
4. Using Buddy fairly
Please don't:
- use Buddy to break the law, or to hurt, bully, scare or cheat anyone;
- invite someone to watch a task if they don't want to;
- try to get into anyone else's account or data;
- try to break, overload or get around Buddy, its limits or its payments, for example with bots or scripts other than the connected apps we offer;
- copy or sell the app, or try to work out its code, except where the law allows it;
- put passwords, bank details or other people's private details into chats, or into tasks you send from an AI assistant.
If someone breaks these rules, we may limit or stop their use of Buddy, for example by disconnecting an AI assistant or closing an account.
5. The AI in Buddy
- Buddy's replies in chat and talk, and the tasks it suggests, are written by AI. AI can be wrong, out of date, or miss something. Check anything important before you rely on it.
- Buddy does not give medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. For those, talk to a qualified person.
- Buddy is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number or tell someone you trust straight away.
- A task Buddy suggests is only added to your plan when you say yes.
6. Connected apps
Where it is available, you can connect an AI assistant, such as ChatGPT, to Buddy if you are signed in and your age is set to 18 or over.
- A connected app can only send tasks to Buddy. It can't see, change or delete anything already in Buddy.
- Tasks it sends wait in Drafts until you add them. Nothing goes on your plan until you add it yourself. Tasks your phone hasn't collected are deleted from our server after 14 days.
- ChatGPT is run by another company, OpenAI. Its own terms and privacy policy apply when you use them, and we are not responsible for their services.
- You can disconnect any time. In Buddy, open Account, then Tasks, then Connected apps. You can also remove Buddy in the assistant's own settings.
7. Buddy Pro and purchases
- Buddy is free to download and use. Some features, like talk mode and unlimited chat, need Buddy Pro, a subscription paid monthly or yearly. You can also buy extra talk time as a one-time purchase.
- You buy these through Apple's App Store. Apple takes the payment, bills you and renews your subscription. The price is shown before you buy.
- Buddy Pro renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time in your Apple account settings, under Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid being charged for the next one. Deleting the app or your Buddy account does not cancel it.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, under Apple's rules. We can't give refunds ourselves.
- Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the iPhone app.
8. Changes to Buddy
We keep working on Buddy, so features may be added, changed or removed. We take reasonable care in running Buddy, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. Chat, talk and connected apps need the internet and our servers, so they may sometimes be down. Your plan stays on your phone and works without them.
Reminders use your phone's notifications, which your settings can turn off, silence or delay. Don't rely on Buddy alone for anything where a missed reminder could cause harm.
9. Stopping
You can stop using Buddy at any time. To clear things away:
- Delete the app from your phone.
- Start fresh: in Buddy, open Account, then Data, then Start fresh. It erases the tasks, chats and settings on this phone.
- Delete account: if you signed in, open Account, then Data, then Delete account. It removes your Buddy account, any cloud backup, and the settings stored on our servers.
- Disconnect apps: open Account, then Tasks, then Connected apps.
- Cancel Buddy Pro in your Apple account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
We may pause or end your use of Buddy if you break these terms, or if the law requires it.
10. Buddy's app and design
The Buddy app, its logo, this website and their design are made by and belong to Yuvraj Barsara. You may use Buddy to plan your own days, but please don't copy or reuse them without asking.
11. What we can and can't promise
To the extent the law allows, Buddy is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise that it will suit every purpose, that it will always work, or that it will never lose anything.
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that are indirect or that we could not reasonably have expected, such as lost profits, missed chances or lost data. Your plan lives on your phone, so if the phone is lost or reset, or the app is deleted, the plan may be gone unless you turned on cloud backup.
Nothing in these terms limits a responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for fraud. Nothing in them takes away your rights as a consumer under Indian law, such as the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or under the consumer law of the place where you live.
12. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute about them goes to the courts in India. If you live somewhere else, you keep any protection your local law gives you that an agreement like this can't take away. If something goes wrong, please email us first. Most problems can be sorted out quickly that way.
If a court finds that part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when the latest version took effect. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app. If you keep using Buddy after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
14. Contact and complaints
Questions about these terms: support@buddydayplanner.com
If you have a complaint, write to Yuvraj Barsara, who looks after complaints for Buddy, at support@buddydayplanner.com. We will let you know we have it within 48 hours and aim to sort it out within one month.
